Does Katie Couric want Port Charles, New York to be her lead in in September?

A very interesting development in the fight to keep General Hospital on the ABC daytime line-up. None other than Ms. Katie Couric is in the soaps corner. According to TV Guide Ms. Couric is not happy with her lead in shows ratings and wants to end the Revolution’s failure quickly and bloodlessly. She would much prefer General Hospital and the town of Port Charles and it’s residents as her  lead in. Especially now with the ratings climbing and the addition of Ron Carlivati as Head Writer and Frank Valentini as Executive Producer and the return of some much loved characters.

Good news soap fans to have the petite dynamo on our side. Especially since TPTB are not prepared to replace their failure with another reality mess.

We will have to wait and see if they realize, as Ms Couric has that soap fans can bring about their own “Revolution” and if they choose they can make her new show a failure also. If soap fans stand united we wield a very heavy sword.

Here is a piece from the TV Guide article by Michael Logan

“Sources close to Couric and her exec producer Jeff Zucker tell TV Guide Magazine that the duo has expressed concern about the disappointing ratings of ABC’s The Revolution which, if GH gets the ax, would be the lead-in to Katie when the talker debuts this fall. Couric and Zucker want to see GH get that slot because it’s a stronger show, Nielsen-wise, plus Couric does not want to face the wrath of GH fans and risk the chance they’ll organize a boycott. Who the hell needs that? So she and Zucker want The Revolution to go bye-bye.”
