Paul Walker who portrayed Brandon Collins in the early 90′s on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless was killed Saturday afternoon in what appears to be a a single-car accident and explosion in Santa Clarita . An autopsy was performed and the results should be out today. Investigators hope to learn how fast the 2005 red Porsche Carrera GT was traveling and what caused it to go out of control
The accident happened on a strip of road where speed racing has been popular. Though
police, have reported speed in a curve may have been a factor in the accident that killed Walker and driver Roger Rodas, there is no evidence of racing in the accident.
Walker, 40, and Rodas, 38, a pro race car driver, had thrown a fundraiser benefiting victims of the recent typhoon in the Philippines. The event was held by Reach Out Worldwide, a charity Walker founded in 2010 to aid victims of natural disasters.
Walker who is famous for his roles in The Fast and Furious movies was reported to be a passenger in the car. His agent commented “Paul was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives.” Witnesses on the scene said the car was Paul’s … but also said he was in the passenger seat.
“Hours,” a drama about Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, is due to be released Dec. 13.
“Fast 7” is in production about 60% filmed, Walker was due back on set , yesterday, Monday morning. Walker’s role will be written out respectfully according to sources.
Walker is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
